After first teasing Athlete Intelligence back in May alongside new features like Dark Mode and Night Heatmaps, Strava has announced the feature is now rolling out as a public beta to paid subscribers.
While the brand’s dashboard has always worked to analyze workouts and provide insights into areas such as heart rate, the AI-powered Athlete Intelligence is set to take things up a notch.
Users will now receive more personalized insights and guidance based on their recent activities, with particular attention paid to efforts over the previous 30 days.
The idea here, from what Strava told Wareable when we were first briefed on the feature a few months ago, is that trends and patterns are more clearly visible – rather than the platform being limiting to showing insights from individual workouts.
The feature has been in a private beta over the last few months, and Strava indicates that it’s used this time to help fine-tune the algorithm’s ability to aggregate information.
Pace, heart rate, elevation, power, and Strava’s own Relative Effort metric are all harnessed with Athlete Intelligence, and this means it’s also able to spot new milestones (like fastest pace and longest distance) and surface them more clearly.
The total time spent in specific heart rate zones is another example of insight users can expect to see, backed up with guidance for building endurance or speed, and perhaps even featuring pointers to consider for the next workout.
When, where, how?
So, Athlete Intelligence has now moved from a private beta to a public beta, which means there’ll likely be a few months more until the feature rolls out in its full form to all paid subscribers.
It also works automatically within the app, if you do happen to get involved with the beta. Once you upload, Athlete Intelligence summarizes the data and starts working on spotting trends.
We should also note the feature is available globally, with 14 languages supported.
